I love renovating our 1852 New England villager with my husband, Rick. When I bought "this old house" 9 years ago my friend and realtor said "Val, this house is you" to which I replied "You mean old and decrepit?"
I've always had a dream of owning my own little brick and mortar shop. That dream has always been to own a quilt shop, after all I have enough fabric to fill one. (Cheshire cat smile) In September 2012, I opened an Etsy shop, ValerysGallery, in preparation for retirement. My husband and I sell our revived vintage furniture, antiques, other vintage items, and my handmade items. In October of 2013 I retired from the company I had worked for for 30 years and opened a small brick and mortar shop, Valerys Gallery of West Swanzey. I love it! I get to create everyday. Whether it's updating a vintage furniture piece, sewing a baby quilt, creating holiday decorations, or filling the shop with the latest auction finds, I am doing what I love to do. (I also do alterations which is not high on my list of fun things to do but it fills a need in the community.)
I look forward to sharing our adventures in old house decorating and owning an Etsy and brick and mortar shop.
Val
